The playmat was slightly smaller than I was expecting, but not alarmingly so. I love the visual nuance of the mat’s staining, very eye catching in person. The wood play pieces are “cute” (as my 9yr old said) and feel good both in the hand and to move around during a game. Can’t beat this two-in-one combo for two awesome historical games at such a great price. :)

I didn't realize it was two game "boards" printed back to back. That's pretty awesome! I'm not quite sure what I was expecting from a cloth "board", but this is a very thick and heavy material! I can't imagine it wearing out in my lifetime. I like the wood pieces with the domed top, they feel so much nicer than a flat backgammon or checkers piece. Very happy with this purchase, definitely something I'll appreciate every time I play!

I bought this for a friend as a late Christmas gift. He loves coming to my house to play Fidchell and Hnefetafl, so getting him his own travel set was a hit.

It looks good. Didn't realize it was a double sided mat. Two mats would be preferable, but that's okay. Still happy to have such unique games.
